Its segments are grouped not because they share one household or economic profile, but because each represents a distinctive pattern that does not fit neatly elsewhere. The category ranges from affluent older homeowners and highly diverse urban households to renter-heavy young adults, group-quarter populations and rural manufactured-home communities. Its purpose is to preserve these unusual profiles rather than force them into broader classifications.
