STI: HealthStats Health Prevalence Data
Understand local health prevalence with greater demographic and geographic precision.
See community health in context.
Health conditions, behaviors, and health outcomes can vary significantly from one community to the next. But direct survey estimates often lack the geographic detail needed to understand those differences at the local market level.
STI: HealthStats provides modeled adult prevalence estimates for 26 diseases, conditions, health-status indicators, preventive-care measures, and risk factors across the United States. Estimates are available at the Census Block Group, Census Tract, County, State, and national levels.
Conditions and Indicators:
Any Disability, Arthritis, Binge Drinking, COPD, Cancer (Non-Skin) or Melanoma, Cognitive Disability, Current Asthma, Dental Visit Within the Past Year, Depression, Diagnosed Diabetes, Fair or Poor Self-Rated Health, Frequent Mental Distress, Frequent Physical Distress, Hearing Disability, Coronary Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Independent Living Disability, Mobility Disability, No Leisure-Time Physical Activity, Obesity, Routine Checkup Within the Past Year, Self-Care Disability, Current Cigarette Smoking, Stroke, Vision Disability
Go beyond a single prevalence rate by examining each condition across 16 population views, including Total Population, Male and Female, seven age groups, and six race and ethnicity groups. Each view includes a modeled Count, Rate, and Index, making it easy to understand both the size of the affected population and how local prevalence compares with the corresponding national benchmark.
HealthStats combines established health and demographic sources with STI’s population estimates to create a consistent framework for comparing communities, markets, trade areas, and other custom geographies.

Analyze Health at Detailed Geographies
Access modeled health prevalence at the Census Block Group, Census Tract, County, State, and national levels, giving you the flexibility to move from broad market comparisons to highly localized analysis.

Use the Measure That Fits Your Analysis
Every condition and population view is available through three complementary measures.
Count estimates the number of adults with the condition.
Rate expresses that count as a percentage of the corresponding population.
Index compares the local prevalence rate with the national rate for the same population group, making geographic differences easier to identify and interpret across cohorts and geographies.
Built for Consistent Local Comparison
HealthStats uses a modeled approach incorporating BRFSS, CDC PLACES, the American Community Survey, and STI: PopStats™ to provide consistent estimates at geographic levels where direct survey estimates may be unavailable or statistically unstable.
